The Schieffelin Family represented in this collection spans four generations. Jacob Schieffelin, married to Hannah Lawrence, lived in New York City and ran a pharmecutical business. His son Jacob married Elizabeth Berard, and eventually moved to Tioga County, Pennsylvania, where he acted as a real estate agent and land developer.
